THE 80% RULE: PRACTICE WHERE SCORES ARE SAVED
Share
THE 80% RULE
Practice where scores are saved.
Most golfers spend the majority of their practice hitting full shots. FGURE takes a different approach.
If you want to shoot lower scores, get better at what happens when you miss the green.
The goal is simple:
CHIP IT CLOSE. MAKE THE PUTT.
YOUR 80/20 PRACTICE PLAN
40% — CHIPPING
Practice different lies, distances and trajectories.
Your objective isn't to hit the perfect chip.
Get the ball inside 6 feet.
40% — PUTTING
Spend most of this time inside 6 feet.
These are the putts that turn a good chip into an up-and-down.
Build confidence from:
3 FT → 4 FT → 5 FT → 6 FT
20% — FULL SWING
Wedges. Irons. Tee shots.
Don't just beat balls.
Every shot needs a target, routine and intention.
THE FGURE UP-AND-DOWN CHALLENGE
Drop 10 balls in different spots around the practice green.
For each ball:
1 chip + putt everything out.
Record an up-and-down whenever you finish in 2 shots or fewer.
Then score yourself:
| Score | Result |
|---|---|
| 0–3 / 10 | BUILD |
| 4–6 / 10 | COMPETE |
| 7–8 / 10 | DIALED |
| 9–10 / 10 | FGURE'D OUT |
Your first target:
7 / 10
Don't just practice.
FIGURE IT OUT.
